Holiday Inn Express Manchester City Centre Arena by IHG

Holiday Inn Express Manchester City Centre Arena by IHG

8/10 Good
"There is no air conditioning control within the room. I had to go to the front desk to request a lower temperature. The fitted sheet is a touch small, so when I untucked the top sheet, which was fully tucked in all around the bed, I saw the mattress directly, making it look like there was no fitted sheet at all. It's there. On the 5th floor I heard street noise late at night. The hotel has no control over this, just something to be aware of. The towel bar is behind the open shower door, making it awkward to fetch a towel after showering. There were no built-in USB ports in the room for charging devices, but the front desk had several charging blocks available on demand. The big problem: I ordered a wake-up call that never came. I requested a 5am wake-up call in order to catch a scheduled airport taxi at 5:30am, and the phone never rang. If I hadn't also set my phone's alarm out of extra caution, I would have missed my taxi and therefore my flight. Overall I enjoyed my stay, and most of the items I've listed here are minor, but the last one is a serious problem with potentially serious consequences if I had not taken the extra precaution of setting my phone's alarm."
